glitches

Real life is a video game.

Like most video games, if you're stubborn enough, you can provoke glitches. The people stubbornly poking at the real life video games are, of course, physicists. Occasionally, they discover glitches! :o) This page aims to document these.

  • fluid simulation in the game starts doing bizarre stuff at low temperatures (superfluids)
  • sometimes, sound makes light! it's not supposed to do that (sonoluminescence)
  • occasionally, particles glitch out and deposit much more energy than they should (oh-my-god particles)
  • sometimes, macroscopic application of force splits molecules (thresher sharks)
  • (ferrofluids)

Detailed bug reports probably ought to be filed on these. The question is just: Who to?
